Gratification is an act or thought which takes away tension and relives anxiety. It gives you pleasure, either actual or anticipatory.

Sensual gratification is a necessary part of your happiness pattern. These are the pleasures obtained through your sensory organs. Taste, touch, smell, sight and sound all contribute to your sense of well being. When they are in balance and are used, you are getting more out of life. You are happier.
Sensual Gratification
You need this sensual gratification in your life. But moderation is necessary. There is no happiness in over-indulgence. As in the case of anything which is overdone, the end result is pain, not pleasure. Misuse leads to unhappiness rather than happiness. The obvious example is of food – over eating can lead to various kinds of problems.
Improve Sensual Gratification
Ask yourself – in what areas of my life do I need to improve any sensual gratification ? Am I hurrying through my meals too fast ?
How long has it been since I last listened to a piece of music ?
Slow down, if necessary, and take time out for looking, smelling, tasting, touching and hearing. Look at that sunset, listen to that bird, touch the bark of a tree or feel that rock you have just picked up. Smell how the air reflects the weather, the time of the day.
Adjust Your Life pattern
Too many people fail to strike the proper balance. You can, if you are willing to adjust your life patterns to accommodate the right amount of sensory awareness. Much of your happiness is literally at your fingertips. It is within your hearing and sight. It is waiting to be tasted and smelt.
Sensual gratification is not to be avoided but to be enjoyed.
