Goals and Actions
- Set goals. Most people do not set goals. Those that do are far more likely to accomplish what they want in life.
- Adopt a positive attitude. People who achieve significant results and a sense of fulfillment in their lives view the glass as half full instead of half empty.
- Do it now. Successful goal setters take action now. Remember, the most important step in
overcoming procrastination is the first step, no matter how small. - Clarify your vision. What do you truly want ? Create a clear and specific mental picture. Use this vision to guide you in the goal-setting process.
- Write S-M-A-R-T goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound)
- Design a specific action plan with target dates for completion.
- Get your employees involved in the goal-setting process. Their involvement will foster significant personal motivation.
- Be sure the goal is possible. Does the person have the tools and information necessary for successful completion of the goal ?
- Discuss the significance of the goal. Believe it is a goal that should be accomplished.
- Recognize success. Any achievement deserves recognition. Whether it is a personal, team, or
employee accomplishment, take time to acknowledge and recognize success.
