Security and its Layers

 What is Security ?

Security is the Quality or State of being secure or free from Danger.  Security means protecting the organizations assets from any type of intentional or unintentional harm.  Security is always multileveled or multilayered.

The following are some of the Security Layers :

  • Physical Security,

  • Personal Security,

  • Operations Security,

  • Communications Security,

  • Network Security,

  • Information Security.

Brief Explanation for Security Layers :

§    Physical Security

Physical Security is securing or protecting the physical items, objects or even areas of any organization from unauthorized access and misuse.

§        Personal Security

Personal Security is implementing security to personals.  It is individual or group of individuals who are authorized to access the organization and all its operations.

Security Layers and its Types

§        Operations Security

Operations Security is ensuring protection of all operations or series of activities.

§        Communication Security

Communication Security is giving protection to all communication medium in an organization.

§        Network Security

Network Security is protecting all network components, connections and the contents transferred in
the network.

§        Information Security

Information Security is securing information in all its three levels of operations (i.e) processing, storing and transmitting.

Conclusion

Every organization must implement and enforce effective information security policies with expert advice.
